    This CITB course will provide delegates who have responsibility for managing all forms of temporary works with the knowledge and confidence to engage with contractors, to reach an assessed standard of knowledge.

     

    The course has the support of several organisations: Temporary Works Forum, CECA, UKCG, HSE and FMB. The support of these organisations offers transferability of the course within industry.

    The TWCTC-R course will cover the following topics:

    • the need for and duties of a TWC
    • the other key roles involved in temporary works
    • the use of BS 5975:2024 in relation to the role
    • typical documents used in temporary works
    • other legislation and guidance that interact with temporary works
    • the importance of the 4Cs: communication, co-ordination, co-operation and competence
    • the need for risk management.

    The refresher course expects the same underpinning knowledge and understanding to be demonstrated by learners.

    The TWCTC refresher one-day course, is aimed at learners who have completed the TWCTC or the TWCTC refresher in the last five years. Failure to attend the temporary works refresher prior to the expiry of an existing certificate will require delegates to re-sit the full course.

    Please note that Learners completing the TWCTC-R course MUST have a valid in-date TWCTC certificate to be eligible to attend.

     

    Learners are expected to have a working knowledge of the following legislation:

    • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
    • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
    • Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007
    • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015
    • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
    • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
    • The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992
    • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
    • The Work at Height Regulations 2005

     

    A key issue for temporary works is health and safety, so learners need to be prepared to discuss how health and safety legislation is relevant to temporary works, as well as which Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) and guidance notes may assist or contribute to safe practices in temporary works.
